"Giving Back" - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. I don't know if this is the right forum or if I should put this in the Gripes area, but here goes.

I'm sick of the "giving back" stuff that is always used for doing volunteer work. Man, I have a full 1/4 of my paycheck siphoned off for taxes. Then I pay 7% sales tax on everything I buy. Property tax on my house is $2000 every year. Then there's all the other taxes and fees.

The way I see it, an awful lot is being taken from me under the threat of prison time if I choose not to comply. A lot of the money is being handed out to people who do absolutely nothing to deserve it. It is they who should be giving back - not me.

Why should someone who works his hiney off his whole life and is successful "give back?" He's been giving back his whole life. Let the fat lazy welfare bums (men and women) show some appreciation for a change. When is the last time you saw a group of welfare recipients go out and clean up an area or volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity house building project?

Give me a break man!
