Hi, I am building an HF transmitter for
a wireless joystick. The carrier frequency is 43
MHz. The problem is that transmitter and antenna
have to fit inside the joystick case which has the
following dimensions: -the box is 8.3*8.8cm
-the stick is 10cm heigh Because of those
small dimensions it is not possible to fit a quarter
wave length antenna inside (at 43MHz, wave length/4
= 1.8m). And a 10cm wire is not long enough to provide
sufficient range even if coil tuned because of very
poor efficiency. The output amplitude of
the carrier is 1V peak to peak. So what should
I do to get sufficient range (I need just 10 meters)?
The only way is to go to higher frequencies?

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed
formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit
design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at
the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps
while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got
Mail" when a new message arrived...
