Will my WRT54G reach with new antenna - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in 2010 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2010, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. I have a WRT54G that I plan to purchace or build a directional antenna for.

The planned link distance will be 5-6 miles.

Does the router have enough power to transmit this far?

What kind of antenna will be needed?

Datasheet says 15dB antenna by default.

I have been reccomended a 1/4 wave double biquad.

Will this work?
