Michael Post subject: Noise Figure of a SAW Filter Posted: Fri Oct
14, 2005 11:51 am Good day. I was given a receiver design that uses
two SAW filters from Sawtek (856327 and 854656). I need to do a noise
figure analysis for the receiver and I am a little confused about how
to handle these filters. I have contacted Sawtek and they were
not able to provide me with any data. Also I do not have access to these
devices so I cannot measure them. Does anyone have any suggestions
about where to find information about this (website, book, magazine
article, etc.) ? I am using Microwave Office for the simulation.
Thank you for your time and help. Michael Top

The NF is basically equal to the insertion loss at any given frequency,
but it must be measured at the input/output impedance used with the
SAW device. Posted 11/12/2012
