RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in 2010 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2010, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Hello all,

I'm curious. Do you think this idea is feasible? I wanted to process SW signals using an AM/FM IC. I only want to demodulate amplitude modulated SW signals. I was thinking that if down-convert the SW frequency to AM levels, then I can just send the down-converted frequency to the IC.

Any tips would be greatly appreciate. Thanks!

Absolutely you can do this - the amateur radio community has used this approach for years. The NE602 IC is a favorite in that community for the downconverter stage. Its only problem is its low 3rd order intercept - which means that it overloads more easily than one might like.
