calculating physical length for Quarter-wave RF choke - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. hi...i need to layout a quarter-wave RF choke which is 600 um length (pretty high frequency operation). However, I need to bend the microstrip (L shape) to fit it in the area provided (it's a chip layout). how could i calculate what the physical length would be for this L shape? i suppose it won't remain 600 um. I've a EM tool but I don't just want to guess striaghtaway. i don't know much about microwave so any information will help. also, is it right that it won't matter what Zo of the line is since i'm just making a RF choke? thanks
