RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in 2010 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. The linearity of a chip's RSSI output signal depends on the chip design - different manufacturers' chips provide different performance with respect to linearity.

See the manufacturers' data sheets. They might not give you all you need, but they're the best you can do.
