rfid Technology - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. Hi

I am looking for some technical help in regards to an RFID proejct I am currently working on

I am currently looking at an LF based (either 125 or 13.5 MHZ) for this application.

The issue is I need the distance of at least 4 to 6 feet.

For a passive system, I dont think its feasiable to work.

For an active system, it still needs to work at the same frequency.

Is it possible to design and active tag that still communicates at LF frequencies? Based on the same principle of communication as a passive tag?

I though about going to UHF, but the cost and issues assoaciated with it are not accetpable.

Any information would be great

Thank You

Robert Patterson
