Please Read... - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. Greetings:

A number of people have suggesting creating a new forum specifically for ranking companies according to how good or bad they are to work for. This program will only be useful if participants refrain from using the polls as a means to slam companies.

Please cast a vote only from personal experience based on either a actual personal work experience or a personal dealing with the company. DO NOT cast a vote based on hear-say experiences.

I have seeded the forum with a couple well-known companies. Please recommend others by replying to this post.

You are welcome and encouraged to post detailed information about your experience with each company in the company ratings threads.

This forum is NOT intended to be a venue for mercilessly and fraudulently slamming a company. If, in my opinion, abuse is occurring, I will shut down the poll.

This can be an extremely useful tool for steering employees and customers both toward good companies and away from bad ones, so please contribute in a useful manner.

NOTE: These rules have changed from the original ones that limited participation to only those who have worked for or interviewed with the companies.

Thank you.

So Kirt, where did all those number of people who asked you to open the forum? Nobody seems to post anything!

Who? Me? I am in a sort of backwater  if you know what I mean.

Greetings Amused:

I'm not sure where the requesters went, but I offered to add companies on request, so I did. Maybe someday they'll be back.

I have to admit to not knowing what you meant by "backwater," so I had to look it up. I assume you claim definition #2 from below. If so, then I'll have to agree that it applies to this attempt at getting people to rate companies. Still, I'll give it time to get spidered by the search engines and maybe eventually it will get some action. If not, then I'll relegate it to the scrap heap of bad ideas

1) a. Water held or pushed back by or as if by a dam or current.

b. A body of water thus formed.

2) A place or situation regarded as isolated, stagnant, or backward: “The running of family fortunes has always been a backwater - albeit a lucrative one - of the investment management business” (Business Week).

3) A rowing or paddling stroke in which the oar or paddle is pushed forward, used to check a boat's forward motion or move it backward.

-

Thanks for writing.

I've worked for Minicircuits and have had no problems. I learned a lot and respect Mr. Kaylie as a engineer and business man.

As a website author myself, I can tell Amused that becaused of the anonimity of the Internet, many people will write to a webmaster to request a certain feature be added, and then never hold up his/her end of the deal and actually provide content. It goes with the territory. That's part of the problem with not requiring registration as RF Cafe does not. You get a lot more participation, but the quality can be diminished.

Note that I'm not signed in (although I do have a registered screen name here). Nobody knows who I am.

Rymaki and 'Not so anonymous' - please post your comment in proper area as Kirt wanted.

Hi 'Not so Amused'! I know and understand what you mean. What I posted was just a trigger ... more for visitors then for Kirt. It is a good idea but I guess it will catch up.

Greetings:

In order to promote greater participation in the polls, the rules have been changed to encourage people to vote based on their personal experiences either as employees or as ones who have personally dealt with the companies.

Votes that had been cast as ones who had interviewed with, but not worked for, the companies are now included in the votes of those who have personally dealt with the companies but not worked for them.

So, please go back to the polls and cast your vote accordingly - that is, for any of the companies you have personally dealt with in any way. Please add any constructive comments you might have.

As before, please do not vote based on hear-say information.

Thank you again.

Greetings Blind:

If it was easy to alphabetize the list of vendors, I would be glad to do so, and would have already done it. However, doing so requires going through and editing the database manually - a task that would stand a good chance of hosing it royally.

The easiest way to find your company of interest if you don't see it in the list is to just do a Find operation on the page. For IE, the Ctrl+F key combination will bring up the Find box.

I think Sprint-Nextel would be a good addition; they are growing into a GIANT

Good suggestion - Honeywell has been added.

I think at Honeywell, you will have an opportunity to do work that can affect the entire world for the better. Is that true?
