Out of Band IM Analysis - RF Cafe Forums

RF Cafe Forums closed its virtual doors in late 2012 mainly due to other social media platforms dominating public commenting venues. RF Cafe Forums began sometime around August of 2003 and was quite well-attended for many years. By 2012, Facebook and Twitter were overwhelmingly dominating online personal interaction, and RF Cafe Forums activity dropped off precipitously. Regardless, there are still lots of great posts in the archive that ware worth looking at. Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts. Hi,

I thought I'd ask this question.

I am conducting some out of Band IM analysis for a site that has some 800 MHz, UHF and VHF transmitters and I am seeing lots of hits on the UHF and the VHF channels. I know that these are theorethical hits and that most of them would look like noise.

Does it make sense to analyze all 3 bands together or should I look only at the In-Band IM ?

Thanks

Hello Zak77,

If by IM you mean intermodulations, the only crucial ones are those appearing in the in-band.

The others will be anyway much lower and can't disturb the signal.
