Ideal Candidates:

Proficient in repair techniques on electronic assemblies/subassemblies in a shop environment involving Matching Networks, RF Generators and DC Power Supplies.

  • Proficient in the use of a multi meter, power supply, and oscilloscope
  • Proficient in repair techniques on electronic assemblies / subassemblies in a shop environment involving Printed Circuit Boards (PCB's) to the component level
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills and the ability to develop basic creative solutions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Test Measurement and Repair Techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot a complex system including the software and hardware

Job Description

Performs test and repair of complex electronic assemblies to the component level; utilizing block diagrams and schematics.

  • Performs test equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Aids and trains other technicians in troubleshooting problems as able
  • Communicates problems to proper WIP Lead, Engineering Tech and/or Supervisor
  • Skilled and knowledgeable with testing and calibration of units
  • Complies with quality assurance policies and methodologies; has a strong quality orientation; consistently produces high quality work
  • Maintains a clean/safe, work environment and follows all published / posted safety standards (daily use of ESD and safety protective devices: eye protection, wrist straps, etc.)
  • Able to perform all the essential functions and competencies listed above
  • Aids leadership by recommending improvements in test processes and repair techniques
  • Repairs high complexity assemblies to component level
  • Provides feedback to leadership regarding product flow and work sequence
  • Documents improved test and/or repair techniques
  • Monitors production processes and repair actions to decrease No Problem Found (NPF) and Could Not Duplicate (CND) issues
  • Perform test equipment maintenance, up keep, and recommends improvements to repair process

Qualifications / Education / Experience:

  • Three to five years' experience and a two-year technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by Odyssey management
  • IPC soldering certification desired but not mandatory

Jim Plourde is President and Co- Founder of Odyssey. Prior to Odyssey Jim served as an electronic warfare technician in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Austin. After his military service Jim held technical engineering and equipment engineering positions at both Motorola and National Semiconductor. Jim has over 35 years' experience in semiconductor equipment service and repair. He also serves as Vice President of Odyssey Singapore.

​Eric Nail is Vice President and Co-Founder of Odyssey. Prior to Odyssey Eric's extensive career spanned application, equipment maintenance and process engineering at Intelogic Trace, Maxtor and Freescale Semiconductor, combining for over 30 years' experience in third party repair. Eric also serves on the advisory board Texas State Technical College. He is the President of Odyssey Singapore.
