12-18-2007 |  It was on September 11, 1977 that David Bowie and Bing Crosby joined together at the Elstree Studios in London, England. Crosby was there to tape what would prove to be his final Christmas TV special (he died on October 14, 1977 — 33 days after taping the duet) and he invited Bowie to appear as a guest star.

Here is a truly amazing video of a master craftsman building a triode vacuum tube from raw materials - including shaping the glass, assembling the electrodes and plates, pulling the vacuum, and finally plotting the transconductance. It nearly brought a tear to my eye.
