A Cell Phone by Any Other Name...

Cell phone or mobile phone - which is it? According to some online media databases, if you live in North America, you are six times as likely to prefer "cell phone" (or cellphone) over "mobile phone." Everywhere else in the world, you are seven times more likely to say "mobile phone." Regardless of what you call it, there has been a notable increase in the amount of stage-phoning going on out there. Stage-phoning is an attempt to impress nearby people by talking in a theatrical and animated manner - usually at an elevated loudness. Some people have even been observed holding staged one-way conversations with their phones turned entirely off. Talk about vanity!

A huge collection of my 'Factoids' can be accessed from my 'Kirt's Cogitations' table of contents.
