Well, Duh, Reentries Are HOT

3 out of the 4 space flight fatalities in the last 35 years have occurred during reentry. The Soyez 1 reentry accident of 1967 and Soyez 11 reentry claimed a total of 4 cosmonauts. We lost the Columbia space shuttle during reentry in February of this year. The only fatal launch accident was the Challenger shuttle in 1986. The Apollo 1 tragedy in 1967 technically was not a flight accident because the fire occurred during a practice run while still on the launch pad.
