Hittite's New SMT I/Q Upconverters & Sub-Harmonic Mixer Cover 17.7 to 34 GHz
New SMT I/Q Upconverters & Sub-Harmonic Mixer Cover 17.7 to 34 GHz
Ideal for Microwave Radio, Military Radar, EW, ELINT SATCOM & Sensors!
Chelmsford,
MA, 1/12/10 – Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions
for communication & military markets, has introduced two new GaAs MMIC I/Q Upnconverters which operate from 21 to
27 GHz and from 17.7 to 23.6 GHz respectively. Also released is a GaAs MMIC Sub-harmonic Mixer which operates from
24 to 34 GHz. All three devices are suitable for a wide range of applications including microwave radio, EW,
ELINT, radar, SATCOM, test equipment and sensors.
Operating from 21 to 27 GHz and from 17.7 to 23.6 GHz
respectively, the
HMC815LC5 and the
HMC819LC5 are compact GaAs MMIC I/Q upconverters which feature a driver amplifier preceded by an I/Q mixer,
where the LO is driven by active x2 multiplier. This I/Q mixer topology is highly beneficial for microwave radio
applications, since the unwanted sideband filtering is reduced. The
HMC815LC5 and the
HMC819LC5 I/Q upconverters also provide small signal gain conversion of 12 to 15 dB with +20 and +35 dB of
sideband rejection, respectively. These I/Q upconverters are much smaller alternatives to hybrid style single
sideband upconverter assemblies, and exhibit excellent 2 LO to RF isolation of up to 12 dB, with output IP3 is as
high as +35 dBm.
The
HMC798LC4 is a compact sub-harmonically pumped (x2) MMIC mixer with an integrated LO amplifier which is
specified for operation from 24 to 34 GHz. This sub-harmonic mixer exhibits up to +22 dBm input IP3, and a wide IF
bandwidth spanning DC to 3 GHz. The
HMC798LC4 provides excellent 2LO to RF isolation of 30 dB, which eliminates the need for additional filtering.
Operating with a nominal +4 dBm drive requirement, the RF and LO ports are DC blocked and matched to 50 Ohms,
making the device ideal for microwave and VSAT applications.
Specified for operation from -40°C to +85°C,
the
HMC815LC5 and the
HMC819LC5 are housed in compact RoHS compliant leadless 5x5 mm ceramic SMT packages, while the
HMC798LC4 is available in a compact RoHS compliant leadless 4x4 mm ceramic SMT package.
Samples and
evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's
e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
