ACTON, MA – July 12, 2011 – Azimuth Systems, Inc., a leading provider of comprehensive real world wireless test solutions for 2G/3G/4G, LTE-Advanced and beyond, today announced that it has achieved continued record profitable growth and expansion in the first half of 2011; as of mid year 2011, Azimuth has experienced a more than 50% increase in bookings as compared to the first half of 2010. Azimuth has also expanded its rapidly-growing customer base with the addition of several new customers worldwide, including the world’s number one mobile infrastructure provider, Nokia Siemens Networks.

The company’s growth is largely due to the success of Azimuth’s field-proven, solutions-focused real world wireless test equipment that increases the scope of lab testing, while also bridging the wireless ecosystem, resulting in high quality devices that perform as expected in the field. Azimuth continues its commitment to technology innovation by integrating support for leading-edge technologies such as TD-LTE and higher order MIMO into all products, as well as the introduction of several new products and features.

In March of 2011, Azimuth announced the Azimuth RPM Real World Performance Measurement Solution (ACE OTA). Azimuth RPM provides a cost-effective, practical and powerful platform for enhanced SISO/MIMO data throughput performance testing with a true over-the-air modeling framework. The Azimuth RPM solution combines a compact mobile isotropic chamber with the award-winning ACE MX MIMO channel emulator to create an environment where devices can be tested in the same mode as they are used in real-world conditions. Unlike traditional over-the-air test solutions, RPM leverages the Azimuth mobile isotropic chamber to create a truly 3D isotropic environment in a small portable form factor without forsaking technical accuracy. The Azimuth mobile isotropic chamber is small enough to fit through most standard doorways, eliminating many of the logistical challenges commonly associated with over-the-air testing. Azimuth RPM will launch with first commercial deliveries scheduled later this year.

Earlier this year, Azimuth also announced several cutting-edge new features to its trusted Azimuth Field-to-Lab™ (FTL) solution, designed to help customers further improve product quality and reduce time-to-market. Most notably, Azimuth’s Field-to-Lab solution is the first in the industry that allows users to automate the entire testbed by using DIRECTOR II Test Builder, a modular, intuitive, non-programming environment which allows even novice users to automate testing. The Azimuth Field-to-Lab automation architecture also facilitates sharing of automation modules not only within individual companies, but also across entire ecosystems, driving consistency in the way things are tested -- and providing more reliable and repeatable results.

Additionally, enhancements to the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator were introduced to enable users to test 3GPP carrier aggregation (R10 and R11) scenarios with very little effort, making the ACE MX channel emulator the platform of choice for LTE-Advanced testing due to its superior RF characteristics and support for higher order MIMO topologies, beamforming and complex transmission schemes.

Azimuth has also illustrated its industry-wide support by working closely with other leading test system vendors such as Anite. Anite recently announced a new test solution that includes carrier based scripts to address the need for LTE data throughput performance testing in the laboratory environment. The Anite LTE data performance solution is based on its SAS network simulator for device interoperability testing, the Anite 9000 Mobile Test Accelerator platform and Azimuth Systems’ ACE MX wireless channel emulator.

The market strength of Azimuth’s real world wireless test solutions was further validated by the receipt of Test and Measurement World’s Best in Test Award for the Azimuth Field-to-Lab solution in April of 2011, which honors important and innovative new products and services in the electronics test and measurement industry that demonstrate superior technical innovation in the marketplace. The award marks the second consecutive year that Azimuth was selected as the winner of the Wireless Test category through votes cast by the test and measurement community, from a field that included five other leading wireless test solutions (the 2010 honor went to Azimuth’s ACE MX MIMO channel emulator.)
