It's been a Hot Hot Hot Summer!

Not only has the temperatures been hot in June at IMS and July at ADF and even August at NIWeek, the enthusiasm and support our customers and prospects have been showing us has been HOT too!

IMS2011 kicked off with record heat in Baltimore, Maryland and the hot topic at the show was not only AWR’s 2011 pending software release features but also the news of AWR’s merger into NI. This same interest carried over into ADF 2011 as AWR took its 2011 product preview to Asia and stopped into the cities of Seoul, Taiwan and Tokyo to talk with and meet with our growing customer base in that region. The enthusiasm shown for AWR’s forthcoming group design feature, asynchronous EM simulation, envelope simulation, coupled thermal solutions, radar systems and 3D EM were the hot discussion topics of interest to many. While I also took the message of synergy to the region as it pertains to AWR + NI now, I was careful not to take away the “wow” from the forthcoming NIWeek AWR & LabVIEW demonstration.

If you’ve not had a chance to see this demonstration that took place August 2nd in Austin, Texas at NIWeek, you can view it here now. With thanks to our customer Infineon, we were able to ‘live, on-stage’ demonstrate hardware in the loop for one of their power amplifiers that showed amazing agreement between simulated data (as predicted through AWR’s Microwave Office™ and Visual System Simulator™ Software) and actual measured data (as empowered thru NI’s hardware and LabVIEW).

No matter how long or short anyone of us has been in the EDA or RF design industry, it’s always HOT to see when simulated and measurements agree….perhaps that’s why I’m always smiling!

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while tying up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
