Identify, Characterize, and Prevent Electromagnetic Interference Problems - Beginning April 4

Rohde & Schwarz Webinar: Troubleshooting EMI with Lee Hill, SILENT Solutions LLC - RF CafeJoin this highly focused one-day seminar and learn how to uncover, characterize, and solve the most elusive EMI problems. Troubleshooting and localizing intermittent signals or multiple layers of broadband and narrowband signals can be frustrating even for the most seasoned EMC troubleshooter and RF engineer. We will discuss and demonstrate a number of test setups that can help the root causes of EMC test failures and then demonstrate how real-time analysis can literally make previously-hidden signals leap into plain view.

This seminar is intended for engineers and technicians involved in the development, troubleshooting, pre-compliance testing and certification of electronic products, systems and assemblies for EMC.

AM Session:

Practical RF measurement techniques & probing tools for EMC troubleshooting

This session will share the secrets to uncovering the most elusive EMI problems. We will discuss and demonstrate a number of noise injectors, near-field probes, current probes, voltage probes, as well as their theory of operation. You won't want to miss this practical session packed with recommendations on practical tools and techniques.

How to make good, fast, repeatable & compliant EMC measurements in the 21st Century

The industry acceptance of Time Domain Scan continues to widen the capability gap between typical Spectrum Analyzers and EMC Receivers. The various differentiators will be discussed including how the Receiver user interface eliminates numerous opportunities for configuration errors, how Time Domain Scan not only significantly reduces test time but also great enhances the ability to properly characterize intermittent signals, and the value of pre-selection in reducing the opportunity for invalid results when characterizing either higher power or impulsive signals.

PM Session:

Using real-time spectral analysis to visualize, measure, and troubleshoot EMI signals

Troubleshooting and localizing intermittent signals or multiple layers of broadband and narrowband signals can be frustrating even for the most seasoned EMC troubleshooter or RF engineer. In this presentation we will discuss the capabilities of different types of spectral analysis technologies, and then demonstrate how real-time analysis can literally make previously-hidden signals leap into plain view. This session will include live, real-time measurements of intermittent, broadband, and narrowband sources such as switching power supplies, PWM motor drives, digital peripherals, as well as Bluetooth and class D audio amplifiers. Even If you have already heard or read about real-time spectral analysis, this is a great chance to see, in person, why engineers say out loud, “wow, did you see that?” when watching it for the first time.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The Internet was still largely an unknown entity at the time and not much was available in the form of WYSIWYG ...
