New Electromechanical Switches Designed for High Reliability with up to 10 Million Switching Cycles

Fairview Microwave Electromechanical Switches Covering DC to 40 GHz w/IL Low as 0.03 dB - RF CafeLewisville, Texas (January 30, 2018) - Fairview Microwave Inc., a supplier of on-demand RF and microwave components, has unveiled a new series of low insertion loss repeatability electromechanical switches. These electromechanical switches exhibit low insertion loss repeatability which is guaranteed over millions of switching cycles. This performance is extremely useful to help maintain overall system measurement accuracy. Typical applications for these switches include test instrumentation, research and development, electronic countermeasures, electronic warfare, microwave radio, space systems and radar.

Fairview's 12 new electromechanical switches exhibit extremely low insertion loss repeatability with guaranteed levels of 0.03 to 0.05 dB over 5 to 10 million switching cycles, depending on the model. Performance includes low insertion loss of 0.3 dB with high isolation of 100 dB typical, and input power ratings of up to 70 watts CW and up to 1 watt for hot switching applications. These switches cover broadband frequencies from DC to 40 GHz and are offered in three configurations: single-pole double-throw (SPDT), single-pole four-throw (SP4T) and single-pole six-throw (SP6T). They have latching actuators and desirable features that include indicators, self-cut-off, TTL and 50 Ohm terminations.

These rugged, MIL-grade electromechanical switches are RoHS and REACH compliant and guaranteed to meet MIL-STD-202 environmental test conditions that include exposure to humidity, altitude, temperature cycling, vibration and shock. Another important feature is all package designs are shielded for EMI/RFI protection and magnetic fields. Models are available with either SMA or 2.92mm connectors depending on the operational frequency. Multi-throw models support HE10 connectors with ribbon cable assemblies for DC, indicator and TTL logic controls, and all models are export-rated as EAR99.

"Designers will find Fairview Microwave's line of low insertion loss repeatability electromechanical switches are extremely useful in maintaining overall system measurement accuracy and provide the added confidence of highly reliable operation over millions of switching cycles. Plus, all twelve designs are available off-the-shelf with same day shipping," said Tim Galla, Product Manager at Fairview Microwave.

Fairview's new low insertion loss repeatability electromechanical switches are in stock and ready for immediate shipment with no minimum order quantity.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The Internet was still largely an unknown entity at the time and not much was available in the form of WYSIWYG ...
