RNVNA links up to 16 analyzers together into a multiport network analysis system

Copper Mountain Technologies Delivers New RNVNA Multiport Testing Solution - RF CafeIndianapolis, Indiana, April 22, 2020 - Copper Mountain Technologies' (CMT) RNVNA solution is a customizable multiport network analysis solution for MIMO antennas and other 5G applications. RNVNA builds on the capabilities of CMT 1-Port USB vector network analyzers.

RNVNA links up to 16 analyzers together into a multiport network analysis system, allowing users to measure vector reflection and scalar transmission parameters. RNVNA is compatible with all Copper Mountain Technologies' 1-Port USB VNAs with frequency ranges up to 6 GHz (R60), 14 GHz (R140), and 18 GHz (R180).

RNVNA software allows users to manage multiple 1-Port VNAs performing required measurements. A free demo version of the RNVNA software for systems using up to three 1-Port VNAs can be downloaded from www.coppermountaintech.com.

The RNVNA solution incorporates shelving for mounting the VNAs. Each shelf is designed to fit a 19-inch rack mounting system and can house up to eight VNAs. Frequency and trigger synchronizing devices are offered as options to increase measurement speed.

RNVNA is an effective multiport analysis solution for MIMO antenna arrays in applications such as manufacturing, 5G, and more. "RNVNA users are able to measure resonance frequency and isolation in antenna arrays to confirm that their antenna setup is operating at the desired frequency range and achieving proper isolation," said CMT co-founder Alex Goloschokin. "RNVNA is able to make these crucial measurements at a significantly faster speed than traditional multiport VNA solutions which require RF switch matrices to cover the extra ports."

Diplexer Tuning with RNVNA Software

Tuning a diplexer can be difficult, but having all the right tools can make it easier. Now we show how using three R60 1-Port VNAs can measure all three ports of the diplexer at the same time. Doing this simplifies the tuning procedure which tends to be highly involved. Also, use of an affordable TR1300/1 2-port VNA or a 4-port Cobalt C1409 VNA would be useful for this application.

About Copper Mountain Technologies

Copper Mountain Technologies develops innovative RF test and measurement solutions for engineers all over the world. It is based in Indianapolis with sales offices in Singapore and Miami. The company pioneered metrology-grade USB VNAs in 2011 and continues to push for innovation and change in the industry, to ensure engineers have access to the best technology. CMT achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2019. The calibration lab in the USA is accredited in accordance with the recognized international standard ISO/IEC 17025 (2017) and meets all requirements of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1994-1. All CMT VNAs include application and automation support, and years of our engineering expertise at your disposal.

Copper Mountain Technologies provides a broad range of USB vector network analyzers, calibration kits, and accessories for 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm impedance. The VNAs use software for a Windows or Linux operating system on an external computer, PC, or tablet. CMT VNAs are used for RF and Microwave applications from 9 kHz to 110 GHz by engineers in industries like defense, automotive, materials measurement, medical, broadcasting, and telecommunications. CMT customers range from government and defense agencies and contractors, like NASA, United States Armed Forces, Canadian DoD and law enforcement, to universities, mid-size manufacturers, like Reactel and PCTEL, and small companies with just a few employees.

RF Cafe began life in 1996 as "RF Tools" in an AOL screen name web space totaling 2 MB. Its primary purpose was to provide me with ready access to commonly needed formulas and reference material while performing my work as an RF system and circuit design engineer. The World Wide Web (Internet) was largely an unknown entity at the time and bandwidth was a scarce commodity. Dial-up modems blazed along at 14.4 kbps while typing up your telephone line, and a nice lady's voice announced "You've Got Mail" when a new message arrived...
