Amateur Radio / Ham Resources
It is an undeniable maxim that when a field of study is adopted by hobbyists, the rate of progress accelerates significantly. Not many examples are as obvious as with amateur radio (Ham) enthusiasts. I have had the honor of working with many top-notch engineers and technicians in my nearly 30 years in electronics, and without a doubt, a lot of the very best were Hams. That is not to say there are not any top-notch electrical engineers that do not indulge in the hobby, there are. The difference is that the Ham radio guys typically exhibit an enthusiasm that is not so overtly apparent in the non-Hams. Where the Amateur radio folks typically shine is when they are in positions that do not normally require a talent for RF knowledge. Whether that be as a project manager, a mechanical engineer, or software guy, one more than one occasion I have seen one of them throw out an idea during a brainstorming session that saved the moment. My hat is off to them.

You will find here some achievements concerning ham radio activity. The majority of the these achievements were the subject of a publication in MEGAHERTZ Magazine, Radio-ref. Magazine or in RadioKit Electronica. All information necessary to the manufacture of an assembly, CAD files, and the software are available. Do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
HF propagation prediction tool for Amateur Radio by Alex Shovkoplyas, VE3NEA.
Ham CAP provides a COM/OLE Automation interface that 3-rd party programs can use to start Ham CAP, to set prediction parameters, and to run predictions. In a typical application integrated with Ham CAP the user will right-click on a call sign, and Ham CAP will pop up and display the point-to-point propagation chart. Incredible graphics!

Project OSCAR started in 1960 and was responsible for the construction of the first Amateur Radio Satellite OSCAR-1, that was successfully launched from Vandenberg AFB in California. OSCAR-1 orbited the earth for 22 days, transmitting the "HI" greeting you see in Morse Code above. Our mission is "To initiate and support activities that promote the Satellite Amateur Radio Hobby". Our primary goal is to reach out and provide logistical support, training and in some cases equipment to amateur radio associations, schools and the public at large.
