ASIC/Systems Signal Integrity Manager

We are looking for someone who has worked with Signal Integrity as an individual contributor and has a few years of management experience managing Signal Integrity teams. You would get to work with new, exciting state-of-the-art technology. The projects this group works on define the market, and the products are used throughout the world!

This is a senior first-level manager position and typically reports to a more senior-level Manager of Engineering Development. The candidate is expected to have broad technical expertise and developed people management skills. This leader thinks and communicates cross-functionally and strategically, and understands and solves issues of increasingly complex nature. This candidate can accept assignments in the form of product requirements and develops overall project objectives, costs, and schedules. Impact on the company begins to take on a longer view, both in terms of product and associated revenue. This leader is viewed as a technical resource within his/her business unit, and makes recommendations to meet today’s changing work requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency with SPICE (or equivalent) circuit simulation, field-solver and time/frequency domain analysis.

  • Familiarity with high speed SERDES design and PLL design.

  • Familiarity with LVDS, SST, CML and other high-performance I/O technologies.

  • Experience in ASIC I/O design/selection and simulation/validation.

  • Solid background in transmission line theory. In-depth understanding of electromagnetics is a plus.

  • Experience with CAD/CAE tools such as HSPICE, HFSS, Microwave Studio, PowerSI, PAKSI-E, Power grid, Spicelink, IConnect, ADS, SpectraQuest, MGH or related tools is a plus.

  • Experience correlating simulation results with lab measurements using oscilloscopes, TDRs, VNAs, and spectrum analyzers is a plus.

  • Self motivation, teamwork and strong communication skills are essential.

Typically requires BSEE/CS, or equivalent, with 7-10 years'' relevant experience in internetworking technologies and applications. Usually, 3 to 5 years of management experience.

The successful candidate will be part of a Signal Integrity technology team and participate in the definition of chip, package, printed circuit board (PCB), and system interconnects. Within a concurrent engineering environment, the individual will be part of a larger team with system architects, logic designers, ASIC engineers, and SI engineers in creation of next generation networking products. This group works on present and next-generation cost-sensitive yet high performance and high volume products.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Analysis, simulation and measurement of high-speed SERDES, DDR and other I/O interfaces
  • Evaluate the operation of various implementations of SERDES, PLLs, CDR and other critical circuits
  • Definition of signaling and package technology for high performance ASICs
  • Simulating, analyzing and generating power delivery network requirements
  • Understanding signal integrity and timing in order to budget and evaluate trade-offs between design parameters to determine a solution space that is high volume manufacturable
  • Generating the routing requirements and electrical margins for specific interfaces and verifying their correctness
  • Designing and conducting detailed testing and measurements to collect data for validation and correlation of design analysis
