3D Antenna Pattern with Ansoft Designer - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I'm trying to get a 3-D antenna pattern for my patch antenna with Ansoft Designer, but when I ask for the 3-D pattern, it gives me the main lobe and no sidelobes. The 2-D shows the main lobe with the sidelobes. Can anyone let me know how I can get the sidelobes in the 3D?

i guess the power levels of sidelobes are very much lower than the main lobe( dominat mode). Could you please be more specific of your design

Perhaps the 3D Antenna Pattern without Sidelobes is using a logarithmic scale which would emphasis the main lobe but not the sidelobes. In fact, it might actually be showing them but they would be greatly reduced when using the log scale.

Just a thought ...
