How to set PML and see antenna far field pattern in HFSS - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi, all, I am trying to set PML for my antenna, but I am not familiar with it. I used radiation boudary before and now I want to see if there is big difference using PML boundary.
I drew a vaccum box surrounding the antenna with distance about lemda/4 from antenna. After simulation, HFSS cannot let me see the far field pattern because it says I don't make a face list. I wondered if I should also draw another radiation boudary surrounding the PML the so that I can see the far field pattern. Another question is if the PML surrounds the antenna, we cannot use wave port. Only lumped port can be used? Who can give me some help?
Thanks a lot.
