The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hello, I need help with ADS. I'm a beginner….

I want to simulate isolation between 2 cables. Each cable is represented as RLC circuit.
I'd like to inject sine wave into Port 1 and measure the signal at the adjacent cable.
How can I do it?
S-Parameter simulation? How?
Or maybe AC simulation, name both ports Vin and Vout and use an equation?

Thanks in advance. Andrei

Hello Andrei,

To my understanding you can´t simulate isolation in the way you described. You will need to use a distributed model of coupled lines. There are several models available in ADS according ot the number of coupled lines and this is located under the TL library. To do that you have to model your cable as a distributed line, based on this model you can also define the distance between the lines and calculate the isolation (Coupling) between them. You can do it with linear (S-parameter) simulation and terminate to the unused ports.

Hope it helps.
