Constant Current Biasing - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to do constant current biasing for integrated circuit amplifiers. I would perfer a reference or something. I'm sure there are different ways you can do it and i would like to see how they're done. While we're at it, also how to do constant Vbe biasing but not the standard resistive divider way. Current mirror won't because I can't bias my emitter because of swing issues. Thanks a lot.

Hello boon,

Yes there is more than one way to bias an amplifier.

Here is an application note, which can be useful for your question:

Good luck!
