help to design a 1:6 transformer - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

I want to design a high power(200w CW) directional coupler as following circuit,It work over the range from (30~80)MHz.

I am going to use a 3:5 voltage ratio transmission-line transformer as a 1:3 impedance ratio transformer.

However I don't know how to design 1:6 impedance ratio transformer, who can help me?

Hi,

That's an interesting approach, but as an engineer I would suggest simple and practical.

There is lots of reference on how to design core and wire directional couplers.
