advice - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Because of the bad economy (well used to be i guess) a friend of mine wants to move from RF circuit (IC) to system level RF design with the promise from the company he will move to IC circuit design(RF) in a year.

any comments on this career move? things is, he is now in an RFIC design role but does not want to be in the area he is since he is away from his family and children.

any advice is appreciated and the new job is closer to his family but not an RF IC design job as mentioned.
