Advice on analyzer purchase - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi, I am looking to buy a signal analyzer for my company. It needs to be able to do phase noise analysis down to at least -116dBc/Hz and I would really like it to be able to do mag/phase analysis of active and passive circuits from kHz to maybe 200MHz. So, I guess more of a combination network/signal analyzer. Not necessarily a fullblown network analyzer (don't really need s-parameters).

Does anyone out there have any suggestions, warnings, or other advice? Thanks in advance for any help.

Depending on your bugdet - I would recommend HP8753ES.
