GSM ORFS Measurement - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi,
When measuring GSM ORFS using any test instrument as Agilent 8960 or a spectrum analyzer, the measurement result is always at discrete frequencies.
I.e. the result is given in specific frequency offsets: Carrier +/-200KHz, +/-400KHz etc. Even at graph representation, between those offsets there is no information.
Why isn't the measurement continiuos, Even though the spectral energy is at all frequencies? In addition why those specific frequencies were choosen?
Tnx
