Forum software upgrade - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

-- Amateur Radio
-- Anecdotes, Gripes & Humor
-- Antennas
-- CAE, CAD, & Software
-- Circuits & Components
-- Employment & Interviews
-- Miscellany
-- Swap Shop
-- Systems
-- Test & Measurement
-- Webmaster

Well, I took the dive and updated the forum software.

No major problems, except that, as expected, the new version disabled the ability to allow unregistered users to vote in the polls.

Fortunately, I was able to reinstall the hack code, and now everyone can vote in the polls again.

Sorry for the 1-day inconvenience.

I can only read the left 2/3 of anything. Your ads take up too much of the screen and the frame cannot be resized.

Scroll bars should be provided in the forum area so that you can see all of the pages. The horizontal scrollbar is at the bottom. Are they not showing up on your browser?

Unless your browser is very strange, the ads cannot possibly occupy 1/3 of the screen. The ad width is 120 pixels, and the page width is 760 pixels (an Internet standard).

Thanks for writing.

OK, I increased the size of the inline frame on the Forums page to the full normal page width of 760 pixels. That pushes the ads off to the right, and off of most browser screens. Now, the horizontal scrollbar should only rarely be needed.
