A lot of people are under the assumption that tube-based amplifiers are no longer being produced. Of course, some do not even know what a tube is. Even so, they are probably only familiar with the classic glass enclosure mounted on a plastic, Phenolic, or ceramic base with pins sticking out of the bottom. Many modern tube amplifiers have metal enclosures as well as glass; microwave oven tubes are an example.
