seeing elsewhere is that in the "off" state, the plasma antenna presents a very
small radar cross section (RCS), which is strategically advantageous for stealth
aircraft (and surface ships). In other news, Sam includes other news related to
our RF industry ...

Axiom Test Equipment, an electronic test
equipment rentals and sales company, has published a blog post entitled "Pack
a Punch for High-Power Semiconductor Device Testing," explaining how to source
the right electronic load for your next project. Semiconductor devices are rapidly
gaining in output-power capabilities, whether used in continuous-wave (CW) circuits
or in pulsed applications. Because they have continued to increase power levels
while remaining at such smaller sizes, power semiconductors have made vacuum-tube
devices such as klystrons, magnetrons, and travelling-wave tubes (TWTs) all but
forgotten except for designs at the highest power levels. But packing so much ...

Sam Benzacar of Anatech Electronics, an RF
and microwave filter company, has published his September newsletter that features
his short op-ed entitled "Interference: 5G Hits
a Snag." He mentions the unavoidable issues that are being faced by telcos trying
to deploy their 5G infrastructure that operates in the millimeter-wave bands. The
two most notable difficulties are that of expensive equipment costs and relatively
short propagation distances (per Mr. Friis' equation). It is the latter that
is partly responsible for the former difficulty because shorter ranges translate
to needing more closely spaced cells. Re-allocation of some existing bands is inevitable,
which worries Hams more than just a little since their spectrum privileges seem
to uninformed bureaucrats to be ...

Axiom
Test Equipment has posted a new blog entry entitled, "Get a Charge Out of Device Capacitance-Voltage Testing."
"Transistors and integrated circuits (ICs) make many of our modern electronic 'toys,'
such as cellular telephones and computers, possible. But before it is possible to
reliably design supporting circuits for new semiconductor devices, they must be
accurately tested to better understand their electrical characteristics. Last month's
blog looked at the ways in which current changed with changing voltage. As a follow-up,
this blog will explore capacitance as a function of applied voltage and how capacitance-voltage
(C-V) measurements can greatly assist the modeling and design of circuits with semiconductor
devices. Semiconductor devices come in many forms, including many types of transistors,
diodes ...

a response to the FCC's recent declaration that RF energy at 5G mm-wave frequencies
does not pose an increased health hazard over existing technologies. Millimeter-wave
energy is non-ionizing and does not penetrate the skin deeply enough to be an issue
at operational power levels. Also included are ...

with bypass, and an SPDT transmit / receive (T/R) switch. Its high performance power
amplifier increases range and saves power while eliminating external devices and
reducing PCB area. The SKY85774-11 comes in a compact 20-pin 2.2 x 3 package and
is currently being leveraged across leading mobile connectivity reference designs.
