latest news in the wireless world, which is not unexpected given his company's long-time
involvement in helping others make their products play well together in an increasingly
crowded electromagnetic spectrum - both licensed and unlicensed. Beginning in late
2016, new reports told how many U.S. and Canadian embassy staffers and their families
told of hearing strange sounds in their heads and experiencing nausea and headaches.
I read many of them. Of course no conclusive evidence as to the source has ever
been discovered since officials of the western hemisphere's only Communist nation ...

Rohde & Schwarz USA (R&S USA) has
published an application note entitled, "Group
Delay Measurements with Signal and Spectrum Analyzers." The available bandwidth
of RF channels are often limited by the bandpass characteristic of filters, amplifiers
and mixers. Detecting amplitude flatness and phase distortion is crucial in characterizing
the quality of a transmission channel. The amplitude flatness within the used bandwidth
may have an influence on the signal quality. Knowledge about phase distortion is
essential to maintain low bit error rates in data transmissions and VNAs (Vector
Network Analyzer) commonly perform amplitude flatness and phase distortion measurements.
Phase distortions in a transmission channel are determined using group delay measurements,
they must be as low as possible to maintain good signal quality. Vector network
analyzers are normally used to characterize the group delay variations ...

Free for your downloading pleasure is Rohde &
Schwarz's white paper entitled, "An Introduction to EMC Amplifiers." "In order to perform immunity
testing on an electronic device, we must subject that device to defined levels of
radio frequency energy over a wide range of frequencies and verify that the device
continues to function properly. This radio frequency energy may be conducted into
a device via its attached cables or be directly picked up 'over - the - air,' i.e.
from radiated signals. As we will see, radiated emissions represent the greater
challenge in immunity testing. The first reason for this is that radiated immunity
(or susceptibility) testing often requires the creation of very high electric field
strengths , with typical values ranging from 3-200 V/m. Depending on frequency,
distance ..."
San Francisco Components (SFC) has introduced
a new educational component of its website to address Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
component sourcing and overages. The information is geared to help customers source
the right amount of critical components without creating costly shortages during
PCB assembly. The
component overages
worksheet gives target quantities for projects based on the number of finished
pieces required. The sheet is broken down by component size for common resistors
and capacitors. SFC also offers a formula for more expensive parts for more accurate
budgeting. "One of the most frequent questions we get from customers is how to know
what is the right quantity of components that are needed for any given project ...
Triad RF Systems, a top-tier designer and
manufacturer of RF and microwave amplifiers, announces the introduction of their
TTRM1210 bi-directional amplifier, a wideband GaN Bi-Directional
Amplifier (BDA) that operates from 30 MHz to 2700 MHz and produces over
8 W of transmit power. The receive side has over 20 dB of gain to overcome
losses between the antenna and the radio. The noise figure is 2 dB which makes
the BDA practically invisible to the system. Switching between transmit and receive
can be done either automatically when RF is sensed at the radio port, or manually
switched by the radio or user. One of the smallest BDAs in the industry measuring
only 3.25 x 2.12 x 0.53 inches, this feature rich BDA is also one of the most efficient.
While producing 8 W of RF power ...
