These two electronics-themed comics appeared in 1968 issues of Radio-Electronics magazine. Electronics service technicians in the day could really relate with the April comic. Unlike today where user and service manuals are distributed in digital format online and/or on DVD, back then documentation services like Sams Photofact released printed versions of schematics, alignment, and troubleshooting guides as new products were put on the market and when updates (corrections or modifications) became available for existing equipment. They were not inexpensive, especially for a subscription that covered a wide swath of products. I remember whilst in the USAF having, on a regular basis, to replace and/or add pages to the many Technical Orders (TOs) for our radar systems. The June comic is a play on how part of the picture alignment procedure for the CRT analog television picture was adjusting both the vertical hold and vertical position potentiometers for a proper display. The same was so for the horizontal component. Note that the TV is a kit project, which if you have ever built an electronics kit that requires alignment, you can appreciate how far away from optimum levels are when you first turn it on.
