Radio Term Illustrated - "Cross" Modulation

December 1939 Radio News Cover - RF Cafe[Table of Contents]

Wax nostalgic about and learn from the history of early electronics. See articles from Radio & Television News, published 1919-1959. All copyrights hereby acknowledged.

Here is another of the "Radio Term Illustrated" type of comic, which appeared in the December 1939 issue of Radio News magazine. The DXing Hams can get a bit animated when trying to squeeze the last picowatt out of a long distance contact. I'm not sure why the guy is depicted as a country hick when for certain there were plenty of polished city slickers who resorted to the same antics. A big list of other electronics-themed comics is at the bottom of the page, many of which contain other of the "Radio Term Illustrated" style.
